An artist really learns to paint when given the freedom to let go of a subject and the expectations of a single painting. In this workshop, practice how to do just that through repetition and technique. Learn how to experiment and challenge yourself to find new methods for rediscovering your chosen subject.

With Beki as your guide, paint the same subject ten times. See how your interpretation, style, and skills evolve from one painting to the next. The uses of acrylic paint are also covered as part of the journey. As a group, discuss color, value, style, method, history, and more. This workshop is open to all levels.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Beki Borman knew she wanted to be an artist from a young age. She earned her BFA in Painting from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Today, Beki creates abstract landscapes that explore color, shape, and contrast using acrylic paint and a knife as her primary tool. As an educator, she believes art should be accessible and enjoyable for all. She reminds her students it’s never too late to start and that we’re all on our own journey. When not teaching or painting, Beki likes to read, write, exercise, and play with her kids and dog.
