Designed for painters of all levels and media, this workshop moves beyond local color to investigate how an imaginative approach to your palette can result in representational paintings that are expressive and readable. Value structure, color theory, and the use of artistic license will be emphasized.

Beginning with a discussion of value and how it can create structure and space, you will complete a brief exercise to hone your skills in seeing and composing an image. Moving into color, basic theory, harmonies, and relationships will be introduced before working through a series of landscape-focused exercises and paintings. Build your level of expression in each as you gain an understanding of the possibilities of your palette to create a sense of space and expression. Open to all levels, no experience required.
